COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO FLAT ROCK ROAD HOUSE FIRE
On April 17, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Cumberland County firefighters responded to a structure fire at 879 Flat Rock Road. The fire originated in an old barn and spread to a nearby home constructed of rough-cut lumber.
Firefighters from Crossville Fire and Rescue, Pleasant Hill, Tansi, and Midway units provided assistance, and 4,500 to 5,000 gallons of water were used to fight the blaze, but both the barn and home were a total loss. The fire reignited around 8:00 a.m. this morning, resulting in another response.
No injuries were reported, and the family has a place to stay.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, with a possible electrical short from a rat-chewed wire in the barn as a leading theory.
