COVENANT HEALTH AIR EXPANDS FLEET WITH TWO NEW ICU HELICOPTERS TO SERVE RURAL EAST TENNESSEE

Covenant Health has officially introduced two new dual-engine Airbus H135 T3 helicopters to its Covenant Health Air fleet, significantly expanding rapid medical transport and critical care access throughout East Tennessee.
Operated in partnership with Air Methods, the program features 24/7 bases in Morristown (Hamblen County) and Rockwood (Roane County). Since launching in May 2026, Covenant Health Air has been requested more than 800 times to support rural communities, accident scenes, and interfacility transfers.
Functioning as flying intensive care units, the aircraft are staffed around the clock by Covenant Health clinicians and Air Methods aviation professionals. Each helicopter is equipped with advanced lifesaving technology, including:
  • Point-of-care ultrasound
  • Whole blood capabilities
  • TOCO monitoring for obstetric patients
  • ZOLL AutoPulse NXT automated CPR devices
  • Ferno BabyPod 2 neonatal transport systems for premature and critically ill infants
The fleet provides crucial interventions for trauma, cardiac emergencies, strokes, high-risk pregnancies, and specialized pediatric care before patients ever reach a hospital.
