CRAB ORCHARD MAN EVADES ARREST TWICE

On September 4, 2025, at approximately 7:36 PM, Deputies Aidyn Smith and Holden Atkinson of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office observed Gary Allen Haney, a 30-year-old white male resident of Lawton Brown Road in Crab Orchard, driving a red four-wheeler eastbound on Crab Orchard Main Street.
Recognizing Haney, who had multiple active warrants, the deputies attempted a traffic stop by activating their patrol car’s blue lights and siren after turning onto Hebbertsburg Road. Haney evaded the stop, leading the deputies on a pursuit through Second Street and Market Street, eventually disappearing onto a trail behind 867 Market Street.
Prior to the chase, the deputies had attempted a warrant service at Haney’s residence, where they noted a red four-wheeler with a hatchet engraved with “MJ Haney,” a known nickname for Haney, which was later found at the pursuit’s endpoint.
Two days later, in a separate incident on September 6, 2025, Deputies Zachary Early and Shaver observed a white Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Jessica Brown, with a missing license plate tag light on Main Street. When they attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled through Liberty Market’s parking lot and continued down Market Street, eventually stopping in a wooded area.
Haney, identified as the passenger, jumped out and fled into the woods. Despite a search with the Crossville City Police K-9 unit, Haney could not be located. The driver, Jessica Brown, denied knowing Haney, claiming she had just picked him up from Lawton Brown Road.
Brown was arrested and charged with evading arrest, and additional warrants were issued for Haney for evading arrest and resisting stop, frisk, halt, or search.
