CRASH INVESTIGATION ON VANDEVER RESULTS IN DUI CHARGES

On August 6, 2025, at approximately 6:31 PM, Deputy Aidyn Smith of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an orange Kia Rio crashing into a ditch at the intersection of Vandever Road and Ormes Road in Crossville, Tennessee. The driver, Jeanne Nicole Hubbard, a 41-year-old white female, was reported to have nearly caused an accident by pulling onto Vandever Road, disregarding oncoming traffic.
A witness confirmed the reckless driving. Upon arrival, Deputy Smith observed the vehicle being towed from the ditch and interviewed Hubbard, who admitted to the near-collision. Suspecting impairment due to her reckless driving and a known history of narcotics use, which Hubbard acknowledged, Deputy Smith conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs).
Hubbard exhibited signs of impairment during the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus and Walk and Turn tests, though she performed satisfactorily on the One Leg Stand. A canine unit alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle, leading to the discovery of a marijuana pipe, a used Narcan nasal device, a cut straw with a crystalline residue, two pieces of tinfoil commonly used for narcotics, and an empty 8% alcohol Smirnoff Smash Ice can.
Hubbard was arrested on-site at 7:04 PM for Driving Under the Influence (DUI), possession of drug paraphernalia, improper display of registration plates, and violation of the financial responsibility law. Evidence, including two vials of blood and the drug-related items, was collected, and Hubbard was transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office for booking.
She faces charges with a court date set for September 8, 2025, and a bond of $8,000 for the DUI and paraphernalia charges.
