Rhea County Emergency Services Management said the road will be closed for an extended period of time.

Passenger vehicles are being rerouted down Possum Trot Rd.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation Smart Way map along with eyewitness reports confirms a single-vehicle crash taking place at 8:04 a.m. on Eastbound Highway 68 near Meadow Lane Rd. Both routes, Eastbound and Westbound are closed, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The notification reads:

“State Route 68 Eastbound in Cumberland – Single Vehicle Crash at A286 MEADOW LANE RD. RT. & A286 ALLOWAY CREEK RD.* reported at 8:04 AM 9/6/2024 (Central Time Zone). Eastbound Closed. Westbound Closed. THP Reported.”
