CREWS WORKING TO RESTORE POWER OUTAGES IN UPPER CUMBERLAND

Officials say numerous homes are without power as of this morning (Tuesday, February 16, 2021) in the Upper Cumberland. Crews are repairing downed lines and poles from the winter storm.

In their last report sent out at 5 a.m. central this morning, Volunteer Energy Cooperative (VEC) reported 1,665 customers without power in Fentress County and 630 in Pickett. The agriculture building in Byrdstown opened last night to serve as a shelter for citizens.

Putnam County Emergency Management says the outage could take up to 24 hours to repair there mainly from an area from Algood to Baxter. Officials opened a shelter last night at First Baptist Church in Cookeville.

UCEMC reports scattered outages in Overton County this morning.

The power companies are working as fast but as safely as possible to get the remaining outages solved. They ask citizens be patient in this process.
