CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL APPROVES BUDGET WAGE COMPENSATION ON SECOND READING

The Crossville City Council last night approved a second reading of an ordinance to amend the 2019-202 budget regarding a budget wage compensation. Crossville Mayor James Mayberry made a motion to implement the plan in three steps rather than all at once. This means the city will initially put in $663,814 to start off then the rest later to bring up the pay for city employees up to a competitive pay rate. The ordinance also calls for the creation of the public works director position. If the city council approves the ordinance on a third and final reading at their meeting January 14, the first step of the pay raise will be on the January 19 pay period. Step two would be implemented on July 1, 2020 and the final step in January 2021.
