The Crossville City Council approved an agenda item regarding extending Interstate Drive on Tuesday.

The resolution had to state an amount, not in excess of $400,000 for the acquisition of easements and personal property.

Negotiations have to start first with landowners before the project can proceed.

City Attorney Randall A. York said the long-term intent is to take the road all the way across and up beside the Speedway on Genesis Rd., and it’s hopeful that TDEC will take that and run an adjacent parallel road past the Speedway.

“We’re taking our time and making sure we do everything proper.”

No current estimate of when the project will start.
