CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL AWARDS MARINE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

The Crossville City Council held two presentations at Tuesday night’s January meeting. The student of the month award went to fifth grader Stone Johnson for showing the monthly trait of “honesty”. Corporal Taylor Raines was issued the Distinguished Service Award on behalf of the City Council and the citizens of Crossville. Corporal Raines Infantry Team Leader, Lima Company 3rd Battalion 23rd Marine Regiment, was activated from January 2018 to December 2018. He was deployed from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to Afghanistan from April 1, 2018, to October 19, 2018. Corporal Raines served as part of Task Force Southwest (TFSW) in Helmand and Nimroz provinces in Southern Afghanistan. City Manager Greg Wood also presented Corp. Raines with a special pen he made which contained the design of the Afghanistan Medal Ribbon.
