CROSSVILLE CRUISE-IN MIGHT BE ALLOWED TO RETURN TO MAIN STREET

Charlie Manker of the Crossville Cruisers spoke to the Crossville council last night with hopes of reversing an earlier Council decision back in December to move the monthly Down Town Crossville Cruise-In car show off Main street and relocated behind the courthouse.  Manker Told the Council there is a newly organized Sequatchie Corodor Cruise-In that spans from Powells Crossroads to Dunlap, Pikeville and finally Crossville as an effort to promote tourism along 127.  Manker explained this is an organized effort of all the Chambers of Commerce of the included towns.  Manker said the Downtown Crossville Cruise-In needs to be on Main Street to accommodate enough parking for the vast number of classic and vintage cars participating in the multi-city cruise-ins, Crossville’s being held on the fourth Saturday of the month. The City council, per  Mayor Pro-Tem
RJ Crawfords
recommendation agreed to take the matter up in the next work session.

The rebuilding of Main Street sidewalks in the coming months was one specific reason the Council had voted to move the car show off Main street in the first place.  All indications are the monthly Cruise-In car show will be allowed back on Main street since the state has thrown more red tape at Crossville in the city’s effort to rebuild the Main street sidewalks adding a least another six months or longer before any bids could be let on that project.
