CROSSVILLE MAN ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGED TOOL THEFT FROM CONSTRUCTION SITE
On November 17, 2025, Crossville Police Officer Colten Johns responded to a theft report at a home under construction owned by Brian Moore in Crossville. Moore directed officers to the job site at Cook Road, where the contractor’s security camera footage from the previous day showed a male stealing several tools from the porch.
Officer Matthew Charlock positively identified the suspect as Charles Conatser. The stolen items included a nail gun, three ratchet straps, a tape measure, a small crowbar, and two box knives. Based on prior contacts, officers believed Conatser was staying at Short Road.
Officers Johns and Charlock, accompanied by a Cumberland County deputy, located Conatser, advised him of his Miranda Rights, and interviewed him. Conatser claimed he thought the house was abandoned but admitted to taking the ratchet straps while denying knowledge of the other missing items.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland County Jail without incident. None of the stolen property was recovered, and officers were unable to obtain a copy of the security video at the time of the report.
