CROSSVILLE MAN ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY LETTING HIS 14-YEAR-OLD NEPHEW DRIVE INTOXICATED

Early Sunday morning, a Crossville city officer observed a black Chevy truck following a maroon Camaro very closely in the area of Water Tank Hill. Both vehicles appeared to be going at a high rate of speed. When the city officer caught up to the black truck, the driver was failing to maintain their travel lane. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Brookhaven Drive, yet the driver failed to stop. The driver accelerated rapidly and went into the oncoming traffic lane passing the Camero. According to the police report, the truck was traveling approximately 90 mph and almost crashed numerous times.

After continuing to travel down Highway 127 South, the truck kept left on Highway 68 and then made an abrupt left turn down Deep Draw Road. The vehicle hit a mailbox, came back onto the road, and then went back off the roadway into a ditch, crashing into a pole.

The driver was identified as a 14-year-old juvenile who was extremely intoxicated. He was placed into custody where he told officers that he had been drinking and a man named Shane Farr had told him to drive the truck. The juvenile reportedly told officers he was scared to drive, however, Shane insisted he follow him.

Minutes later, Shane Farr showed up on the scene driving a maroon Camero. Shane told officers that he was the juvenile’s uncle and he had no clue what was going on, and his nephew must have stolen the truck.

The juvenile’s guardian, who was also the owner of the truck arrived at the scene where he and another witness told officers, the truck was not stolen. They told officers Shane did tell the juvenile to drive the truck, even though Shane knew he was intoxicated.

The minor was issued misdemeanor citations due to him being a juvenile, for Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, Drinking Under the Legal Age, and Evading Arrest.

25-year-old Shane Farr was charged with Filing a False Report, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and Reckless Endangerment.
