CROSSVILLE MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY SMASHING WINDOW AT DECEASED SISTER’S HOME

According to a report by the Crossville Police Department, on November 13, 2025, Crossville Police responded to a report of trespassing at a residence on North Street that had recently been inherited by the complainant’s daughter following the death of the complainant’s wife. The suspect, the deceased woman’s brother, named Wendell “Doyle” Goney, had previously been banned from the property after an earlier break-in.

Security footage showed him at the home twice that day, and officers found a kitchen window broken outward with fresh blood on the glass both outside on the porch and inside the sink. The suspect was located nearby, heavily intoxicated and bleeding from his right hand. Goney gave conflicting accounts but ultimately admitted his blood would match the evidence at the scene and acknowledged that he had attempted to enter through the broken window.
Goney was arrested for vandalism (estimated damage $600) and public intoxication, medically cleared, booked into the Cumberland County jail, and formally banned from returning to the property.
