CROSSVILLE MAN ARRESTED FOR DUI AND IGNITION INTERLOCK VIOLATION AT TACO BELL
According to a report by the Crossville Police Department, on Monday, at approximately 5:28 p.m., Crossville, Tennessee Police Department officers were dispatched to the Taco Bell on N. Main Street after reports of a blue Chevrolet sedan driving onto the sidewalk, with the driver observed striking his own face with the steering wheel. Upon arrival, Sgt. Chrystal Massey located the vehicle parked with an occupant inside. The driver, later identified as Dillon Bogard, noticed the officer, leaned down out of view, and then attempted to reverse and flee. The officer quickly made contact with Bogard and immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and a strong alcoholic odor on Bogard’s person.
Bogard displayed exaggerated movements, was unsteady on his feet, unable to stand still, and struggled to follow directions. He admitted to consuming one shot of Crown Royal and one shot of Fireball, as well as methamphetamine sometime within the previous 24 hours. Due to cold weather, Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were conducted inside the Taco Bell. Sobriety tests, that Bogard allegedly failed.
Further investigation revealed that Bogard had a prior DUI conviction from September 2021, which included a requirement for an ignition interlock device on his vehicle. Dispatch confirmed this restriction remained active, but no such device was present in the car. Based on the signs of intoxication, poor performance on the sobriety tests, admissions, and odors, Sgt. Massey determined Bogard was under the influence of mind-altering substances and unable to safely operate a vehicle.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center. A search warrant for a blood draw was obtained and executed at Cumberland Medical Center at 6:51 p.m., where two vials of whole blood were collected by medical personnel. Bogard was subsequently charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Violation of Ignition Interlock Device restriction.
