CROSSVILLE MAN CHARGED WITH PUBLIC INTOXICATION AFTER WALKING INTO TRAFFIC

According to Crossville Police, on October 12, 2025, city units responded to a report of a male, identified as Marcus Koontz, causing a disturbance by walking in front of traffic, waving his arms, and yelling near TCAT on 10th Street. Upon arrival, officers observed Koontz stumbling across West Ave, ignoring verbal commands to stop.
He appeared intoxicated, exhibiting slurred speech, unsteadiness, and the odor of alcohol, admitting to consuming two mixed liquor drinks. Koontz was uncooperative, refusing a preliminary breath test and becoming argumentative when instructed to place his hands behind his back. Officers, including Sgt. Mangas, Ptl. Price, and Sptl. Charlock, had to physically restrain him, resulting in a small laceration on his right elbow during handcuffing.
Deemed a danger to himself and others, Koontz was charged with resisting arrest and public intoxication and transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department without further incident.
