CROSSVILLE MILITARY MEMORIAL MUSEUM SET TO REOPEN SEPT. 2ND

The Military Memorial Museum of Upper Cumberland in Crossville, Tennessee, housed in a historic 1885 stone building listed on the National Registry of Historic Buildings, is set to reopen with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 2, 2025, at 10 A.M. after undergoing significant restoration.
The museum announced a temporary closure on July 30, 2024, to address structural needs, including reinforcing the second-story floor, installing museum-quality windows, and repairing the foundation and roof of the building, which originally served as a courthouse until a 1905 fire, later functioning as a school, library, wrestling venue, USO site, and government offices until the museum’s establishment in 2002.
The all-volunteer, nonprofit museum, which relies on tax-deductible donations instead of entry fees, showcases over 5,000 artifacts from the Civil War to modern conflicts, including a notable World War II section on Camp Crossville’s German POW camp and tributes to local heroes like Sergeant Alvin C. York and Sergeant Milo Lemert.
Visitors can explore self-guided or with informative guides, experiencing a rich, educational journey through American military history, supported by generous contributions from local and international donors.
