CROSSVILLE RESIDENT REPORTS DRIVEWAY SCAM

A Crossville man reported to police that he had been the victim of a scam this past week. Thursday, the resident of Sparta Drive told officers that he had been visited by two men selling driveway repairs. He said that they had quoted him a price of $150 to repair the drive including filling in any cracks. They brought in their truck which had a tank on the back and began spraying the drive. After they had finished, the resident told police that the men quoted him another price of $630 for the job. They said that they had used 85 gallons of liquid and that he needed to pay by the gallon. The victim gave the men $560 which was all the cash he had. Later, when the resident attempted to call a phone number which he had been given, a female answered and then hung up immediately. The investigation is ongoing. 1057 News warns residents to be on the lookout for anyone wanting to sell their services, and that if you have any doubts about such people, call the Crossville Police Dept. at 931-484-7231.
