CROSSVILLE SIDEWALK PROJECT BELIEVED TO FINISH SEPT. 5TH

During a special-called meeting on Tuesday, the Crossville City Council unanimously approved Change Order No. 5, granting a 24-day contract extension for the downtown pedestrian improvements project along US127/SR28, moving the completion date to September 5, 2025. The extension, requested by Adams Contracting LLC, was necessitated by manufacturing delays in the delivery of decorative signpost supports, with no delivery date provided by the supplier.
The issue had been discussed in bi-weekly construction meetings, as noted in a letter from Tracy Barrett of Adams Contracting to James Golias, Senior Project Manager at CT Consultants. Golias recommended the extension without additional compensation in a letter to Hayden Rogers of the Tennessee Department of Transportation, which all parties supported.
City Manager Valerie Hale noted the urgency of the special meeting due to the impending contract expiration on August 12. Councilman Mark Fox inquired about the basis for the 24-day extension given the uncertain delivery timeline, to which City Engineer Tim Begley explained the preference for switching from knock-out to solid square posts.
Councilman Mike Turner’s motion to approve the extension, pending TDOT approval, was supported by Fox and passed 4-0, with Councilman Art Gernt absent.
The council then proceeded to its work session.
