CROSSVILLE TO DISCUSS LEGALIZING BOTTLE ROCKETS

The City of Crossville is set to make a decision concerning changes to firework ordinances to allow for the use and sale of bottle rockets within city limits. Currently, violation of this ordinance is punishable with a misdemeaor charge and a fine, possibility of permit revocation for repeat offenders.
The popular fireworks have been restricted in Crossville since 1989, however many businesses would simply set up shop just outside city limits, sometimes as close as 100 yards.
Mayor RJ Crawford was unaware of such an ordinance until local fireworks businesses made complaints.
The council will make a decision concerning the ordinance at next week’s city council meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
