CROSSVILLE WALMART SHOPLIFTING ARREST LEADS TO RECOVERY OF HOLIDAY MEALS AND A NINJA SLUSHY MACHINE
A routine shoplifting call at a Crossville Walmart took an unusual turn when police discovered an electric shopping cart and an accomplice’s vehicle loaded down with holiday meats, coffee, and a high-end slushy maker.
According to the Crossville Police Department incident report, officers responded to the store on October 23 following a report from loss prevention personnel. Store staff had detained 55-year-old Nancy Moore near the store exit after she allegedly attempted to wheel away an electric shopping cart filled with multiple turkeys and hams.
When questioned by Officer Price, Moore waived her Miranda rights and admitted to taking the items, telling authorities her intention was to donate the food to the homeless.
Further investigation revealed this wasn’t Moore’s first trip. Security footage showed she had made a previous run out of the store, loading items into a waiting vehicle. While the driver had fled the scene before officers could make contact, police inspected the car’s back seat and found it packed with stolen merchandise.
The recovered property list cataloged a wide array of goods, including:
-
7 frozen turkeys (valued at $127.99)
-
6 hams and consumable goods
-
A Ninja Slushy machine (valued at $319.00)
-
Folgers instant coffee, coffee creamer, and slushy mix
-
Twinkies and a Salisbury steak dinner
Moore admitted to stealing the additional items found in the vehicle as well. She was placed into custody, transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center, and officially banned from Walmart. Store representatives stated they would be pursuing formal theft warrants.
