CROSSVILLE WALMART THEFT SUSPECT FOUND HIDING IN CRAWL SPACE
On June 8, 2026, Crossville Police Officer Dustin Lester responded to a theft report at Walmart, where an Asset Protection Associate reported that a male suspect had stolen a knife kit, a compass, and a handheld fan before exiting past all points of sale. Utilizing a circulated photograph, the suspect was identified as Mr. Charles Eric Conatser, who was subsequently located hiding in a crawl space beneath a residence at Short Road.
Upon making contact with Mr. Conatser, Officer Lester observed the three stolen items in plain view within the basement area. After being notified of the discovery, the Protection Associate signed warrants against Mr. Conatser for shoplifting and criminal trespassing. Mr. Conatser was then placed under arrest and transported to the Justice Center for booking, and the stolen merchandise was successfully returned to Mr. Banfield.
