CROSSVILLE WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER METH DISCOVERED HIDDEN IN JACKET

On November 22, 2025, Crossville Police Officer Colten Johns responded to assist Officer Jackie Grant near an address on West Avenue in Crossville after she detained a female believed to be under the influence of a mind-altering substance. The female, identified as Toni Sullivan, had been observed pulling and throwing grass from the ground and was handcuffed for her own safety.

Upon contact, Sullivan exhibited slurred speech, incoherent responses, irrational movements, and involuntary clenching of her jaw and hands. She consented to a search of her person, which revealed no contraband at the scene. Officer Johns informed her she was under arrest for public intoxication and warned her that bringing illegal substances into the jail would result in an additional felony charge. Sullivan then became loud, irate, and verbally aggressive. For officer safety, she was placed in the patrol vehicle without a seatbelt and remained argumentative and erratic during transport to the Cumberland County Jail.

Upon arrival, jail staff conducted a more thorough search and located a small clear plastic baggie containing approximately 1.17 grams of a white crystallized substance, believed to be methamphetamine, concealed inside a rolled-up receipt in the lower right pocket of her green jacket.

Sullivan was subsequently charged with Public Intoxication, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Facility. The suspected methamphetamine was seized, packaged, labeled, and placed into evidence at the Crossville Police Department pending submission to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for laboratory testing.
