CROSSVILLE WOMAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ANIMAL CRUELTY

According to a report by the Crossville Police Department, on September 12, 2025, Officer Joshua Mangas responded to a call at Heatheridge Circle, where he met with the apartment complex manager, who reported that Karly Lynn (Dishman) Stottlemire, a tenant in Building 211, Apartment 106, had likely moved out, as she had not paid September rent and was seen moving items out recently.

A lease agreement confirmed her tenancy. Another tenant noted Stottlemire had borrowed a strap to move items two weeks prior, mentioning she was relocating to a cheaper unit.

Employees discovered a dead dog in her apartment after entering due to a power outage and a foul smell. Officer Mangas found two deceased black puppies in the upstairs bathroom, one in the bathtub and one on the floor, with no food or water bowls present, only a slightly running shower faucet and toilet water inaccessible to the dogs.

The apartment appeared mostly vacated, with mainly trash left behind. Photos and body camera footage documented the scene. Dispatch records revealed prior animal neglect complaints against Stottlemire in Cumberland County from July, confirmed by Animal Control Officer Daniel Grove.

Social media posts on Stottlemire’s Facebook under “Karly Dishman” showed the same puppies from August 2, with attempts to give them away and transfer her lease by September 10. Stottlemire was located at her workplace and admitted to checking on the puppies the previous day, claiming she left food in the tub and that the power was cut off that morning.

She also admitted a third puppy died days earlier in a tote, which she discarded in a dumpster. After questioning, she was charged with three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, searched, and transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center by Officer Brittany Price.
