CROSSVILLE WOMAN LOSES $500 IN GIFT CARD JURY DUTY SCAM

On May 6, 2025, a 75-year-old Crossville woman reported to Officer Jonathan O’Neal that an unknown male, initially calling from an unidentified number and later using a 934 number, claimed she missed jury duty and demanded payment to avoid arrest.
The scammer instructed her to buy a $500 gift card at Dollar General on Hwy 127 North and provide the card number. After complying, the male demanded more money.
Officer O’Neal arrived while the scammer was still on the phone, introduced himself, and the call ended. She lost $500 to wire fraud.
