CROSSVILLE WOMAN’S EBT CARD HACKED AND USED IN CHICAGO
On April 3, 2025, Officer Matthew Charlock responded to a fraud report at the Crossville Police Department in Crossville, Tennessee. The victim reported that their EBT card had been hacked and used without their permission.
Approximately $1,055 was loaded onto the card on April 2, 2025, at midnight. Later that day, around 4:00 PM, the victim discovered three unauthorized transactions: one for $498.96 and another for $499.32, both occurring at separate addresses in Chicago, Illinois, at around 2:18 AM on April 2, and a third transaction for $78.85 at one of the same Chicago addresses at 2:19 AM.
The victim stated they had not shared their card or its information with anyone but mentioned using the card in Kentucky the previous weekend, unsure if that was where the information might have been compromised.
