A CSX spokesman says a company employee died Saturday afternoon in an accident at Wauhatchie rail yard in Chattanooga. The employee, Allen Lowe, who’d been with the company 24 years, was killed when he was struck by a locomotive.

A statement released by CSX said, “Safety is CSX’s highest priority and our goal is for every employee to return home safely. Losing a fellow railroader is difficult for everyone at CSX, and we will conduct a thorough investigation to understand the cause of this incident.”

The investigation into the incident is still underway.
