CUISINART RECALLS OVER 1.7 MILLION GRILL BRUSHES OVER SEVERE INGESTION HAZARD
In a major safety announcement that could disrupt summer barbecue plans across the nation, Conair LLC has issued a massive recall of more than 1.7 million Cuisinart metal wire bristle grill brushes. The federal recall comes after multiple reports of consumers accidentally swallowing detached metal bristles, resulting in emergency medical intervention.
According to safety officials, the small stainless steel wire bristles can break away from the brush during cleaning. The loose wires can easily stick to the grill grates or transfer directly into food, posing a severe ingestion hazard and a risk of serious internal injuries that could require surgery.
To date, Conair has received at least 54 reports and online reviews detailing instances where the wire bristles detached. Tragically, this includes three confirmed reports of consumers who swallowed the loose metal bristles and required medical treatment to have them removed from their throats or digestive tracts.
The recall affects approximately 1,719,995 units sold both individually and as part of larger multi-piece grill sets. The recalled brushes feature handles made of black plastic, stainless steel, or wood, and have the word “Cuisinart” stamped directly onto the handle.
