UPCOMING LANE CLOSURES ON SR 136 IN COOKEVILLE FOR CONCRETE REPAIRS AND RESURFACING
Drivers traveling through the SR 136 (Jefferson Avenue) corridor should prepare for upcoming delays as the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announces scheduled lane closures for a major resurfacing project.
Contract crews are set to begin essential concrete curb repairs between the I-40 East ramps and SR 24. This work is required to prepare the roadway for subsequent milling and paving operations.
The construction will impact traffic in two distinct phases:
-
SR 136 North: The right travel lane will be closed from south of East Stevens Street (log mile 3.60) to Spring Street (log mile 4.13). The closure will begin on Monday, July 6 at 7:00 PM and remain in place until Friday, July 10 at 4:30 PM.
-
SR 136 South: The right travel lane will be closed from Spring Street (log mile 4.13) to East Stevens Street (log mile 3.75). This closure will run from Sunday, July 12 at 7:00 PM through Friday, July 17 at 4:30 PM.
Following the completion of the curb repairs, final milling and paving activities are scheduled to officially kick off on Sunday, July 19.
TDOT urges motorists to “Know Before You Go” by checking live travel conditions via the TDOT SmartWay Map or by dialing 511. Drivers are also reminded to eliminate distracted driving and strictly adhere to Tennessee’s Move Over Law, which protects highway workers and emergency responders. Violators face up to 30 days in jail and fines up to $500.
