CUMBERLAND B.O.E. CHAIRMAN SPEAKS ON SCHOOL DIRECTOR’S CONTRACT

In a recent interview with Crossville News First, Board of Education chairman Chris King said that he had been fielding calls all night after the board meeting from community members in support of Director of Schools William Stepp.

He said that of the calls he received, more than 90% were in favor of the current director and even alluded to the possibility of calling for a special meeting of the board to take up the contract issue again.

King even went so far as to say he was disappointed in the Board’s vote and said at that now-famous meeting that he was embarrassed by the current Board of Education.

The public would be invited to attend that special meeting to voice their opinions on the matter, should it occur.

In related news, a recent online petition on change.org asking for the renewal of William Stepp’s contract has received over 1,100 signatures.
