CUMBERLAND CO. BOARD OF EDUCATION VOTES TO DENY CCEA REPRESENTATIVE DESIGNATED SEAT AT MEETINGS
During last night’s Cumberland County School Board meeting, board member Tony Brock made a motion to have a seat alongside the board designated for a representative from the Cumberland County Education Association (CCEA). The CCEA represents the teachers in the county being a voice for their concerns and requests to the school administration and the school board.
“They need to feel they are a part of us,” said Brock.
A CCEA representative had a seat at the meetings in the past with their own table behind the media table in the board room. However, it was discontinued a few years ago.
After Brock made the motion last night, it received a second and the vote took place. The motion was denied with school board members Safdie, Netherton, Hamby and Boston casting the no votes.
