CUMBERLAND COUNTY BOE PRESENTS CRAWFORD WITH KIDS FIRST AWARD

During last night’s Cumberland County Board of Education meeting, Stone Memorial High School Senior 17-year-old Leilah Crawford was presented with the Kids First Award.

Director of Schools William Stepp presented Crawford with the honor after she led the board and citizens in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Crawford student teaches a Right to Farm/Agriculture class at Stone Elementary.

Crawford developed a program providing agriculture reading and coloring books for students in grades pre-K to 3rd grade in Cumberland County, serving 2,500 students. She raised $14,000 to go towards this project.

She came up with the idea to give away the books for her living-to-serve plan with Future Farmers of America. She came up with the plan during the Washington Leadership Conference last year.

Crawford plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin, majoring in agricultural education.
