Volunteer Tennessee’s Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards annually recognize outstanding volunteers across the state for their significant contributions to their communities through dedicated service.

In Cumberland County, Carolyn Jozwiak was named the adult honoree. Having called the area home for more than 20 years, she has generously given countless hours to organizations such as the Cumberland County Master Gardeners, Downtown Crossville, Inc., the Crossville Depot, and the Veterans Memorial Park. Among her favorite efforts are decorating downtown Crossville with seasonal displays for fall and Christmas, as well as helping coordinate the annual Christmas tree lighting event. Carolyn excels at identifying each organization’s specific needs, adapting her approach accordingly, and uniting people around shared goals, reflecting her deep commitment to positive community impact.

The youth honoree for Cumberland County is Seth Troglin, a student at Cumberland County High School and an active member of his school’s Future Farmers of America chapter. Seth has devoted hundreds of volunteer hours to agricultural education and various community service initiatives. His most notable achievement was conceiving, organizing, promoting, and leading the Spread the Light livestock show, an inclusive event created to give youth with special needs the opportunity to experience showing livestock. What began as an idea has grown into a cherished new tradition at the Cumberland County fair, bringing joy and fostering a sense of belonging. Through his exceptional leadership, empathy, and determination, Seth has exceeded expectations, uniting the community while promoting inclusivity and engagement, and truly embodying the essence of volunteerism.
