The Cumberland County Commission honored the Stone Memorial High School FFA Livestock Team in its meeting tonight. They recently placed first in the 4-H state livestock judging contest and the state livestock evaluation. The team will compete in the national 4-H livestock judging contest in November in Louisville, Kentucky. (the picture includes Brayden Webb, Lillie Illes, Bella More, Brody Lowe, and Coach Keith)

In other action from the county commission this evening:

Members re-elected County Mayor Allen Foster to serve as chairman of the commission. Nancy Hyder was appointed parliamentarian of the commission.

Cumberland County Finance Director Nathan Brock presented his final finance report to commissioners. Brock is retiring after serving in the position for 35 years. Commissioners will soon look to appoint someone to replace Brock.

Brock told the commission that emergency medical service collections were $398,947 which is above the budgeted monthly amount of $366,667. Year to date, after two months, the county is $72,380 behind budgeted projections. Brock added the hotel/motel collections were $161,132 and were $151,331 in the prior year. Prisoner boarding collections from the state were approximately $63,000.

The commission appointed Deborah Holbrook, Teresa Boston, George Harrison, Valorie Cox, and Travis Cole to serve on the ethics committee.

Members also appointed Nancy Hyder, Charles Seiber, Jack Davis and John Patterson to the financial management/purchasing committee.

Kelli Tipton, John Stubbs, Katie Hardt, Linda Clark, John A. Wedgeworth, Terry Lowe, Shane Flowers, David Gibson, and Wendell Wilson will serve on the county regional planning commission.

The commission appointed Joyce Rorabaugh as Cumberland County archivist.

Commissioners approved several resolutions regarding budget amendments.
