At its recent monthly meeting, the Cumberland County Commission—with Commissioners Sisco and Patterson absent (the latter recovering from hip surgery)—voted unanimously to reappoint Philip Burnett as County Attorney for a two-year term ending October 31, 2028.

In addition to the reappointment, the Commission addressed a series of infrastructure and administrative updates:

* Road Additions & Removals: Bunk Lane and Hedgewood Circle were officially added to the County Road List, while Junior Camp Lane was removed at the request of Camp Nakanawa, which owns the surrounding property.

* Road Length Adjustments & Clarifications: The Commission approved length corrections for five local roads—Beachwood Drive, George Anna Drive, River Road, Trails End, and Wycliff Lane—while reducing the maintained portion of George Branch Court by 0.12 miles. They also officially recognized the precise location and layout of England Road.

* Budget Amendments: Several upcoming and general fund budget amendments were introduced and considered, covering county initiatives such as the 2024 HOME Grant, the Local Health Center, Parks and Recreation, and multiple Board of Education adjustments including transport and special education preschool grants.
