CUMBERLAND COUNTY DEPUTY ENCOUNTERS RATTLESNAKE WHILE RESPONDING TO DISTURBANCE

A Cumberland County deputy responded to an unwanted individual at a residence on Whittenburg Road yesterday. The subject left prior to law enforcement arriving. However, the deputy encountered something he was not expecting. The officer went up to the door of the home and walked up on a timber rattlesnake. The deputy took evasive action and according to the report, said expletives in the process. He made his way onto the porch and away from the serpent. He called for assistance saying he was stuck. Other officers arrived and one was able to bag the snake and take it to a remote location for release.
