CUMBERLAND COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT HOLDS 9-11 MEMORIAL SERVICE

On September 11, 2025, at 7:30 a.m., the Cumberland County Fire Department held a solemn 9-11 memorial service under a clear blue sky at the county’s 9-11 memorial on Livingston Road, marking the 24th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks.

Attended by firefighters, first responders from Crossville and Cumberland County, and community members, the ceremony featured heartfelt tributes.

Kyle Coleman offered a prayer and a timeline of the 2001 events.

Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster read the memorial plaque. He later shared remarks on Facebook, stating, “This morning I had the honor of speaking at our 9/11 ceremony, reading the plaque at our memorial dedicated to the memory of those we lost. September 11, 2001, forever changed our nation. We remember the innocent lives taken, the courage of first responders, and the resilience of the American spirit. In light of recent tragedies, we are reminded how fragile life is and how important it is to stand united, honor sacrifice, and never take our freedoms for granted. May we never forget.”

Chaplain Randall Dye led a prayer of thanks to emergency responders, and a memorial bell was tolled to honor the victims. Derek Carter delivered a closing prayer, and Fire Chief Trevor Kerley invited attendees to view the memorial, featuring an 11-foot World Trade Center girder, emphasizing the enduring memory of the lives lost and the bravery of first responders.
