Voting in Thursday’s Cumberland County General Election was extremely light as there were no locally contested races. Less than four percent of Cumberland County registered voters cast their ballot.

Republican Kelli Tipton Buchannon, who had no Democrat opponent will be the new Assessor of Property.  Wiley Potter will be taking the seat of Dewey Walker in the 1^st District. Walker stepped down in May after moving out of the district.  Scott VanWinkle will take over the 2^nd District Board of Education seat. Anita Hale will retain her board seat in the 4^th District. Chris King kept his position on  the school board representing the 6^th District and Travis Cole will take over representation of the Board of Education’s 8^th District.
