CUMBERLAND COUNTY MAN ALLEGEDLY TRIES TO HIDE FROM DEPUTIES IN HIS SHOWER
On February 14, 2026, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office received information via a Crime Stoppers call indicating that Wesley Sherrill was located at Russell Court and had four active warrants for his arrest: two for domestic assault, one for evading, and one for violation of probation.
Deputies, including Deputy James Curry, responded to the address and began knocking on the front door while announcing themselves as law enforcement. Although they heard movement inside, no one answered. A subsequent Crime Stoppers call informed dispatch that Sherrill was in the back bedroom.
Deputies noticed the back door was unsecured and slightly ajar. They entered the residence to conduct a security sweep and located Sherrill hiding in the shower in the bathroom.
He was taken into custody without incident, placed in handcuffs (double-locked and checked for proper fit), and transported to the Cumberland County Jail by Deputy Griffin. Deputy Curry served Sherrill with the listed warrants during intake at the jail.
