CUMBERLAND COUNTY MAN FINDS GUN IN THE ROAD

Thursday afternoon, a Deep Draw Road resident went to the Justice Center and told deputies he had a weapon in his vehicle that he’d found and wanted to turn in.

He’d found the weapon in the vicinity of U.S. Highway 127 and Miller Avenue while on his way to the grocery store. The man said he cleared the weapon before putting it into his vehicle. He said it had one round in the chamber and 11 in the magazine. Deputies confirmed that count.

The man said the holster was destroyed; he left it in the road as he didn’t want to be in the road too long and risk getting struck by traffic.

The weapon, a Taurus 9mm did not turn up as stolen in an NCIC check. The weapon was entered into dispatch as a recovered handgun.

Approximate value of the weapon is $200.
