CUMBERLAND COUNTY MAN OUT $20,000 IN LATEST PHONE SCAM
Another phone scam is going around in Cumberland County and this time it cost a resident a lot of money. According to the sheriff’s office report filed yesterday, a resident of Pleasant Hill received a call from a woman claiming to be an agent with the DEA. She told the homeowner that his social security card was supposedly found in a burned car with a large amount of drugs inside the vehicle. The caller said if the man did not pay $20,000, he would have a warrant issued for his arrest. The woman even gave the man a case number. Being scared, the man mailed the money to an address in the Bronx, New York. The incident is under investigation.
