CUMBERLAND COUNTY MAYOR COMPLETES APPALACHIAN LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster has successfully completed the Appalachian Leadership Institute, a comprehensive leadership development program sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). As a member of the Class of 2026, Foster collaborated with leaders from across the 13-state Appalachian region, engaging in a curriculum focused on economic and workforce development, infrastructure, tourism, and community engagement.
Throughout the program’s training, site visits, and discussions, Foster focused on building relationships and exploring innovative, collaborative approaches to shared regional challenges. Expressing his pride in becoming an Appalachian Leadership Institute Fellow, Mayor Foster highlighted the value of exchanging ideas with other regional leaders and stated that he looks forward to applying these new perspectives to benefit the citizens of Cumberland County.
