CUMBERLAND COUNTY PROCLAIMS NOVEMBER 2025 AS HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE MONTH
Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster has proclaimed November 2025 as Hospice and Palliative Care Month to honor the vital work of Hospice of Cumberland County. For over 40 years, the organization has enabled hundreds of local residents to spend their final months at home with dignity and comfort, surrounded by loved ones.
The proclamation highlights hospiceβs comprehensive, team-based approach that addresses expert medical care, pain and symptom management, emotional and spiritual support, family respite, and bereavement counseling. It also recognizes palliative careβs role in improving quality of life at any stage of serious illness and notes that hospices are leading providers of community-based palliative services. Amid a fragmented healthcare system, hospice is praised as a model of patient-centered care that works effectively.
With an estimated 1.6 million Americans receiving hospice services nationwide in 2025, the proclamation commends hospice organizations for promoting advance care planning and celebrates the commitment of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services to prioritize patient choice and individualized care.
The resolution formally acknowledges and thanks Hospice of Cumberland County for its irreplaceable support to patients and families during lifeβs most difficult moments.
