Cumberland County Property Assessor Lori Lowe Powell has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She was elected to the position in August of 2020 after David Simcox announced he would not seek another term. She had worked in the property assessor’s office for 13 years prior to the election. County Mayor Allen Foster said this morning the deputy property assessor will serve in the role for time being. The county commission could make a decision to appoint an interim until the next election in 2022. Lori was a professional, caring and friendly servant of Cumberland County who will be missed by many.

Funeral services for Lori Ann Powell, age 58, will be at 3 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2021 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pomona Cemetery.
