CUMBERLAND COUNTY SHERIFF ASKS FOR HELP SOLVING 40-YEAR-OLD COLD CASE
Cumberland County Sheriff Casey Cox has put out a call for help, asking for information regarding the death of William “Bill” Kemmer, occurring November 17th in 1983.
Kemmer was shot in the back with a high-powered rifle after getting out of his truck on 7094 Highway 70 East, and was later found dead beside his truck. He was carrying over $60,000 in cash on the night of his murder, and the money has yet to be found. Several receipts and documents in a brown canvas bag were also missing.
Before his passing, Kemmer was mayor of Crab Orchard, serving three terms, as well a respected business owner.
