CUMBERLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE ALERTING CITIZENS OF SCAMMERS

It is cold outside today and everything is moving slowly but scammers are still on the job working hard to steal your information and finances.

That is why the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office wants to alert you about the increasing sophistication of online scams targeting the community.

Scammers are using more convincing tactics to trick people into giving out personal information, clicking malicious links, and sending money.

Please remember to be extremely cautious when sharing personal information or clicking on links, especially if you are unsure about the source. Scammers are becoming more deceptive, and it’s crucial to verify the legitimacy of any request for information or funds.

If you receive a suspicious message, email, or phone call, don’t hesitate to reach out to the sheriff’s office at (931) 484-6176. They are here to help and can guide you to ensure your safety and security.

Remember, it’s better to ask questions and verify before taking any action that could compromise your personal information or finances.

Stay vigilant, stay safe, and remember that your safety and security are the top priority of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The Fairfield Glade Police Department is warning everyone to be very cautious before they open any text messages.  One such scam is a text that claims to be from the United States Postal Service that says your package has arrived at the warehouse and cannot be delivered. The fake text asks the victim to confirm their address with further instructions. This is a scam! And there are hundreds of other such text scams. If you get a text from anyone you do not know, even if it appears to be from a local number, do not open it. If you get a text instructing you to confirm, open a browser or anything of the kind, the Fairfield Glade Police Department says you should delete it and block the sender. Do not share any personal information with them or reply. Do not follow the link.
