The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office joins other law enforcement offices in warning citizens of a new wave of law enforcement scams.
The post made by Sheriff Casey Cox reads:
“We want to alert our community about a recent scam where fraudsters are using the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office logo to deceive residents. These scammers are pretending to be officials from our office in an attempt to extract personal information or money.
Key Points to Remember:
- Official Communication:
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will never ask for personal or financial information over the phone, via email, or through text messages.
- Verification:
If you receive a suspicious call, email, or text claiming to be from our office, verify the authenticity by contacting us directly at our official phone number.
- Report Suspicious Activity:
If you suspect you have been targeted by this scam, report it immediately to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
- Protect Yourself:
Do not share personal or financial information with unknown callers or through unsolicited messages.
