CUMBERLAND COUNTY TO PURCHASE FORMER BANK FOR ARCHIVES
The Cumberland County Commission voted last night to purchase the former Progressive Savings bank on US Highway 127 South for use as the new county archives building. County Mayor Allen Foster negotiated the purchase price of 1.125 million dollars. The resolution was approved unanimously.
The county sought bids on renovating the current county archives, located on East First Street. Those bids came in $280,000 over the Commissions proposed budget of $1,600,000.
