CUMBERLAND DEPUTIES INVESTIGATING CATTLE THEFT; NINE STEERS STOLEN

In Pleasant Hill, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of nine Black Angus steers that went missing on March 16, 2026. The cattle, each weighing approximately 900 to 1,000 pounds, were stolen from the area, representing a significant financial loss since animals of that size are typically valued between $2,000 and $5,000 according to U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Investigator Mitchell Ward at 931-484-6176.

This case adds to a broader rise in agricultural crime across Tennessee. The Tennessee Agricultural Crime Unit has already reported 27 livestock thefts in 2026, and agricultural crimes have spiked by 30% in the past month.
