CUMBERLAND DEPUTIES RESPOND TO ATTEMPTED BURGLARY AND ASSAULT

On July 3, 2025, Cumberland County Deputy Tyler Leary responded to a burglary in progress at Turkey Blind Rd near Crossville reported by a 35-year-old Hispanic female resident. The suspect, Phillip Larsen, a 55-year-old white male, allegedly broke into the residence by damaging an A/C unit and forcing entry through the front door.

Armed with a metal broomstick, Larsen stabbed through a bedroom door, injuring the resident in the lower back while making racial slurs and threats. Larsen fled in a black 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck, yelling further derogatory remarks. Deputy Leary located the vehicle at Critter Creek Rd, where Larsen attempted to evade capture by hiding in a wooded area.

With assistance from a Crossville PD K-9 unit, Larsen was apprehended and arrested for aggravated assault and aggravated burglary. He was transported to Cumberland County Intake for booking, with a court date set for July 14, 2025, and bonds totaling $20,000.
