On January 27, 2026, around 11:32 PM, deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary in progress at Big Horn Drive. The complainant, viewing live security camera footage, observed a male wearing a blue jacket and jeans kicking in the crawl space door before entering the residence through the crawlspace.

Deputy Holden Atkinson and Deputy Curry arrived shortly after 11:43 PM, noted a muddy boot print on the damaged door, and cleared the crawl space, discovering two masked males—Donnie James Rector Jr., 48, and Richard Lee Todd Snyder, 50—hiding in the back area.

The deputies held the suspects at gunpoint, ordered them to show their hands, and took them into custody without resistance. Next to the men was a black Under Armour duffle bag containing various burglary tools, including a Ryobi Sawzall, crowbar, sledgehammer, tin snips (marked with “B. Moore”), wire cutters, channel locks, and other items. Both suspects were searched, Mirandized, and admitted to entering the home “to stay warm,” though they denied forcing entry despite evidence of the kicked-in door and shattered frame.

Rector and Snyder were arrested on-view. Rector faced charges of aggravated burglary, possession of burglary tools, and two counts of violation of probation (with existing felony warrants).

Snyder was charged with aggravated burglary, possession of burglary tools, and vandalism. Both had bonds set—$25,000 for aggravated burglary each, plus additional amounts—and court dates in March 2026. The tools were seized as evidence.

The property belonged to an estate; the recent homeowner had passed away, and two non-residents were handling it as executor. They were notified of the arrests and requested the suspects be banned from the property.
